Always The Last To Know

findtixIf everyone in the freaking Bloggerverse knows that Lollapalooza was officially cancelled yesterday, then why the fuck is Ticketmaster still selling tickets? It's not like this is secret information. Could they just be trying to milk some non-refundable service charges out of any uninformed people out there? Fuckers.

They didn't get the memo.

This is what kills the concert industry!!
As a person who goes to a lot of shows I have to say my ass is sore from all the man-handling by Ticketmaster and Clear Channel!! Bring down the government? Naw....bring down these A-HOLES!

A ticket DOES NOT COST $18 to print and mail!!!!

If I ever went to shows at Clear Channel venues I might care a bit more. Rarely, rarely do I get stuck with the huge service charges. Ticketweb is pretty reasonable, and God bless guest lists!

I've read interesting things about those "service charges," and if the public feels it is its duty to bitch and moan about CD prices, how about getting to the bottom of ticket prices? We can get nutritional information on food items and we've got more honest utility bill info over the years, but we don't have any idea what goes into ticket prices.

I bought my tickets (cash) at a Ticketmaster outlet (NBA Store). Went to get my money today, and they wouldn't give it to me, saying "it's not officially cancelled" and to call them tomorrow. Conspiracy.

agreed. ticketmaster is just as evil as clear channel, if not more.

however, even now, local venues are starting to charge for tickets.
i.e. tickets i purchased recently at schuba's here in chicago are $8 in advance, $10 DOS, right? well, if you buy the $8 advance ones, there is also a $1.50 service charge each (which, i know, is nothing compared to ticketbastard) but still... they're not even printing out my tickets either, my name will just be on the list the night of the show.

so what gives? is beer not expensive enough at these venues? what?

ermmm coolfer people *have* been bitching about ticket prices / service charges for years now...surely you didn't miss the pearl jam broo-ha-ha a few years back? and, come on now, a cd costs .85 cents with full artwork to manufacture...you don't find at least *some* cds disturbingly overpriced? take off the retail-guy blinders once n a while, ya? ;) :)
