Hardly Working

Well, my first day as an employed taxpayer was pretty underwhelming. A few tours of the office and a bunch of internet surfing. Tomorrow figures to be a little better...I have my HR de-briefing in the AM and then the rest of the team are going to show me the ropes as far as the database and all that goes.

My commute kinda sucked. The (much cheaper) local bus zoomed by 4 minutes ahead of schedule as I was walking out to the bus stop, so I had to take the (more expensive) express bus to the Pentagon. It will take a while for the kinks to get worked out but it doesn't seem so bad.

This weekend was torture as our cable went out and took our interweb service with it. I didn't even find out about the Nomah trade until I read the Sunday paper! How fucking 1980's is that? Not sure that I can add anything that hasn't already been said but I like the deal. Nomah hasn't been the same since he hurt his wrist. He's a fucking crybaby and the team will be better with him moving on. Cabrera is much better than his play this year would tell you so maybe they can lock him up cheap. I am a bit worried that the Matt Clement deal didn't go down, but hopefully Derek Lowe comes around now that he has an infield that can catch the ball behind him. Oh, and Nomah might have to sit out the month of August to get ready for September. Besides, if this deal really sucked for the Sox, Peter Gammons would have said so.

The NBA schedule for next year has been released. The C's open with Philly and play in DC very early in the season. Buzz.

The Sports Guy off the record on what he thinks the C's will do next year. Here is the second part of the Fe-mail bag.

OK, who wants to download the new Ted Leo record for me? Fabulous riches await you.

Pixies tour dates.

The Strokes decide to milk their first record even more. They're worse than Oasis!

Batman Begins trailer.

Have you seen this yet?

It's started to happen / it's started to change
With the movement up on us / hope we make it o.k.
If it takes a life / or a couple of days
It's coming together / in relative ways

oasis at least waited to make 2 great albums & 2 sub-par albums before a live cd set was released (not including the masterplan). strokes are down for one of each. it would be funny if they did the inverse of Phantom Planet & made an album cali puss-pop--a trading spaces if you will.
