Fucking hell. Could I have had any more fun at bluestate on Saturday night? Fuck no. We had a huuuuuge crowd (the room we were in holds 150 people and I'd wager we were at or over the century mark for a good portion of the evening) that was into the music and beer and the vibe in general. I started things off a little after 9:30 and by 10ish, the place was already half full.
We had a few, minor technical problems throughout the night but considering I hadn't DJ'ed since 1996 and none of my three cohorts had ever done it, we did just fine. I can't say enough about the crowd. I was wandering around the place all night saying "I can't believe how many people showed up!" So big ups to all of those that helped us promote the night, you know who you are.
I was really nervous throughout my set but it went well and I got some rumps shaking towards the end. It felt really good to get behind the decks again (even if I did play mostly CD's all night). I had forgotten how much I loved doing that in college. Some people complained about the lack of dancing, but I kept reminding them that indie rockers don't dance, so heads nodding were just as good.
So again, thanks to everyone that came out and represented. We hope to have another gig in the very near future and you'll of course be able to read all about it right here.
More pics over on the bluestate site as well as some by Catherine. Set lists are here. The first three pics were taken by L Boogie and Johnny English(pictured above). I'll have to wear my hideously ugly green and blue sweater more often. You can pick me out of any pic with that thing.

Ash is coming to the Black Cat in March!!!!!!!! Free All Angels has been on constant repeat for me for the last month or so.

It takes three people to replace John Peel.

Thanks for the props.

Who else is thankful that Jack is back!

Ah, Tahiti 80! That was driving me nuts trying to remember their name. I love that song. Excellent night, look forward to the next Bluestate/ILB DJ installment.

You know you're bigtime when the heavy hitters of the political blogosphere make the scene.
