Sophomoric Philosophy Department
At the present moment life seems to be an elusive concept at best. It crowds me and shoves me around when I need room and yet it's nowhere in sight when I need it most. I learn not to take life for granted by feeling the pain of it's absence. I never consider its potential to leave at any time when it's here, because it is. It's always here even when a part of it is gone forever. The value that you put on someone else's life is a reflection of the value that you put on your own. I have an understanding of things now that I didn't a few weeks ago. Respect yourself. You are full of life, taste every drop. Don't waste time. Don't take a second of this trip for granted. It ends so quickly and completely that it will break your heart forever. Live hard and long.
- Henry Rollins 1.10.92, Los Angeles, Ca - taken from the liner notes of Big Ugly Mouth
I know it's not cool to like Rollins, but frankly, I don't give a fuck. I've never claimed to be cool. Every once in a while I pull that out and reread it. It never fails to inspire.
Bloggie nominations for 2005 are in and big ups are going out to Frank Chromewaves (Best Canadian Blog), Uncle Grambo (Best Entertainment Weblog) and my boys over at 1115.org (Best Political Blog). All three are daily reads for yours truly and each has achieved "toolbar bookmark" status on my web browser of choice. In fact Chromewaves and 1115 are my first two stops on the interweb every morning after I check and see how my fantasy basketball team is doing(5th place and one game from 4th, obvs.). Grambo would also qualify for this "honor", but we all know he doesn't get his shit up until later in the afternoon. You just can't rush the PHC, bovs. Why all four of these excellent writers don't have serious, paid gigs doing what they do best is beyond me.
Every once in a while I'll get discouraged about the lack of recognition this site (and it's author) gets on the interweb and then 40+ people will leave me comments about my cat and that's when I realize that I get plenty of recognition and I need to shut the fuck up.
The unveiling of the Mac Mini. That thing is tiny.
Wanna buy an official 1991/1992 Duke Blue Devil NCAA Basketball ring? Ex-scrub Chrsitian Ast sold his on ebay.
Bad News: The Bravery cancelled their gig at the Black Cat.
Good News: Now they're opening for Ash instead! Fucking hell, that show's gonna be a madhouse. Must get tickets now.
Other ways to spend my disposable income:
March 29: Queens of the Stone Age @ 930
March 30: Graham Coxon @ Black Cat
April 9: Bloc Party @ Black Cat
CD's I'm gonna buy tomorrow:
...Trail of Dead - Worlds Apart
Super Furry Animals - Songbook CD and DVD
Last night at Borders I picked up Elanor Rigby and a copy of Travis:The Singles DVD. Full reports on both when I'm done with 'em.

much as I love Duke, I find it a bit on the cheesy side (to put it nicely) that someone would sell their championship ring. hrm.
as for it not being cool to like Henry Rollins, why is that? did I miss something? is it because he's on "I love the '90's: Part Duex"?
