Stop The Insanity!

Southern California, where common sense and good ol' fashioned marketing strategies collide!
The AP is reporting: Baseball's Angels have a new name, and it's a mouthful: The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Get it? They're in Anaheim, but not really, because Los Angeles is a state of mind maaaaan. If I knew anything whatsoever about LA (other than Bukowski is buried there) I would insert some traffic related 405-type joke here. Instead, just think of your own.

I need an explanation! "We believe that the appeal in the marketplace will be broader," Angels spokesman Tim Mead said.
Alrighty then!

Unsurprisingly, the city of Anaheim is nonplussed at this idea and have filed a court injunction preventing the name change. "It's geographically confusing and absurd," (city spokesman John) Nicoletti said. "No other professional sports franchise that I know of has two different cities in its names."

Hmm... The Baltimore Nationals of Washington? May be one way to appease Peter Angelos some more.

Worst renaming ever.

The Northern Golden State Kings of Sacramento?

Too wordy?

That's the dumbest thing I've heard in a while not stated by our commander-in-chief, which is why I'm not surprised at all that it comes from Southern California. They should get geographically correct and call them The O.C. Angels, then get Death Cab to write a team anthem for them.

I think the Boston Patriots of Foxboro and the Greater New England Area sounds kind of catchy though.
