Still on the fence about this Thievery Corp. gig. Tix are $25 but going to a good cause. I think if I do go, it will be a last minute thing.
You all know that on Feb. 1st us at bluestate will be able to say we played the same venue as The Bravery (should they blow up). Hey, it'll look good on the CV.
On a completely seperate note, I downloaded some tunes by the Bloc Party last night and they are the goods. Very peppy, danceable indie pop type stuff. And I finally heard my first Annie song! Stereogum was on point with her. Is that a Daft Punk sample in Me Plus One? That shit is so bluestate worthy, it's not even funny. I'll throw those tracks into my new downloads section (located to your right under the iPod section) sometime later this week. For now you'll have to do with tracks from Kasabian, Mylo and The Go-Betweens as well as video streams from Elefant and Joy Zipper. Keep your eye on that section as things will be going up fast and furious over there. Time for me to take advantage of all that space on my .Mac account.

Super Furry Gruff goes on tour!

More on the iMac mini and the iPod Shuffle. Can you believe people are still bitching about the iMac mini? We wouldn't get too excited about the Mac Mini's $499 price tag. Add in the cost of a new monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and with the Mac Mini's barest configuration, you're looking at roughly $750 at a minimum to get up and running. No shit Sherlock. This computer is squarely aimed at peecee zombies that like their iPod but don't want to shell out over $800 for a new Apple machine when they already have a monitor, keyboard and mouse (hereby forever known as "Coolfer's mantra"). And I wont be buying one, but it looks like the iPod Shuffle has some pretty cool features, despite the lack of a display. Notice I said "buy one", not "accept one as a gift". Here is all the MacWorld coverage you need.

Steve Francis is taking that Cuttino Mobley for Doug Christie deal very hard. Listen to this dreck:
"I can't put it into words," Francis said. "Playing with a guy, living with a guy, just knowing that every day when I wake up that's something I can count on, that I'm going to be in practice or in a game with Cuttino. Him not being here is going to be tough for me. I don't know what I'm going to wake up for."
This sound like Tim and Dawn winding up Gareth about his miltary training.

Hmmmm...Gotta love it when the guy that's on the field for 5 plays a game starts talking shit to the defending champs.

24 reasons to love 24.

Mary's Dairy can go suck it! Call the blogger beat down squad.

I don't even know what to make of this but it's funny as hell.

Ack! I'm glad I don't have to come into work on the day of the inauguration.

WHFS, RIP?

I'm down with the cute little Mac mini. It's cheap and does what most people need out of a computer: Internet, email, music, a few pictures, word processing. Why pay a bunch for such simple functions? Let Sony build the expensive "gamer" machines.

The $499 price is marketing genius. Can't go over that $500 threshold, so they leave out necessary items and get a number with a 4 in front of it. When a PC user gets a Mini, it just won't look very good without matching mouse and keyboard (my keyboard would clash, that's for sure) so some may buy Apple accessories. It's all gonna work out for Apple.

Most importantly, the Mini says to people, "Computers are another piece of equipment, not a huge investment. Buy one every year or two if you'd like. $499 ain't that much dough." Buying a whole Mac with monitor and keyboard every year or two is an irrational proposition for those not deeply entrenched within The Cult.

It's so tiny!

Agreed on the simple functions of the machine. That's all most people are gojng to use it for anyways.

so, when are you going to have a "sd-ist"? all other cool cities are represented, but, alas, san diego is not among them.

not enough going on probably.

all you'd have to do is put an "a" in between the "s" and the "d" and, well, that's not that funny after all.

i'd love to be an affiliate out here in sunny, rain-soaked sd.

and, i'm not really serious. i just have no life.

Re Mike Vanderjerk: A poster on an Indianapolis Star message board had an apt description for everyone's favorite drunken idiot kicker:

"Leon with a better leg."

Man, I thought I was just getting a shoddy signal through WHFS today. Not only it is now a Salsa station, it's a VERY bad /Spanish Soap/Salsa station. PS - I love Annie's Chewing Gum and Heartburn tunes.
