Longwave gets a concert review from Filter. Promising.

Curious. ESPN hires an ombudsman.

Viral marketing in the All Star Game. I didn't watch it. I knew who was going to win.

MAC ATTACK AND ATHENS 83 @ DC9 (July 14)
Members of the DC bands The Carlsonics and Washington Social Club team up to form a Fleetwood Mac tribute band called "Mac Attack." And guess who is opening for them? "Athens 83", naturally. They are an REM tribute band consisting of members of two other DC bands, The Beauty Pill and The Hard Tomorrows.

I am so there. iPod Jukebox tonight. VHS or Beta on Friday?

Baby pandas, not as cute as you'd think. Are you in the panda death pool?

MIA is being promoted more heavily on MTV than the latest hillary duff single. Maybe it's my fault for watching about four hours of quality reality programming last evening (Date my Mom, Kept, The Real World and That 70s House), but the MTV promotional machine is enough to put anyone off of her music. Her galang, galang, galanga will soon be more ubiquitous than the opening bleeps of 'such great heights.'

and speaking of, the 'such great heights' iron and wine cover on an m&m commercial!? i might weep.

see you at the Mac Attack/Athens 83 show. I've been looking forward to that - my friend Mike is playing drums in Athens 83.

I cannot even begin to deal w/ PJ, but if S-K is opening for them, I'm so completely there. They effing kick and the new album is soooooooo verry.

S-K opened for Pearl Jam last time around. (2003?? I can't even remember anymore. Oh, never mind, there it is in the article.) I can still hear the teenage girls shrill "Carrie!!!" screams in my ear.

BTW, Mr Pink makes my day every time I see him. My own two would definitely approve of Pink's endless poses.

Is that Chemical Brothers song from Push the Button, or for somewhere else? And hey, I fucking love pandas, I'm sooo gonna be in at the Zoo when they debut the new baby-- seriously, my panda obsession borders on the unhealthy. And ZHS or Beta in DC-- you tellin me that one of my new fave bands is playing in my new adopted home (moved to the area a month ago)? So best!
