In true Tony Kornheiser type fashion, I declared myself the winner of the Battle Royale last night on account that Natalya played one too many songs by the Shout Out Louds and Charles didn't even play the Wu Tang. That and I threw everyone for a loop when I busted out The Hollies' Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress. You knows it. Remember, Keats and Yeats are on your side, but you still lose, because weird lover Wilde is on mine.

My set lists were:
9PM
The Charlatans, "Feeling Holy"
Oasis, "Round Are Way"
Morrissey, "It's Hard To Walk Tall When You're Small"
Stone Roses, "Mersey Paradise"
Badly Drawn Boy, "Silent Sigh"

10PM
Happy Mondays, "Step On"
Chemical Brothers, "Loops of Fury"
New Order, "True Faith"
Primal Scream, "Miss Lucifer"
The Hollies, "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress"

11PM
Bee Gees, "Tragedy"
The Smiths, "Cemetry Gates"
Joy Division, "Dead Souls"
James, "Heavens"
Starsailor, "Good Souls"

Midnight
Morrissey, "Boxers"
elbow, "Cast of Thousands"
Oasis, "It's Getting Better (Man!!)"
Ian Brown (featuring Noel Gallagher), "Keep What Ya Got"
doves, "Lost Souls"

Of course I would be remiss if I didn't wish Miss Remain Fabulous a very happy birthday (last night).

As if his head wasn't big enough already.

Bye bye Alan Embree.

Who wants to come with me to see Teenage Fanclub tonight? Look at this set list from Chapel Thrill! I got the set list last time I saw them play in NYC as well as the first time I saw them play in 1992. Needless to say, those are prized possesions.

On occasion of this momentus show(TFC have to be one of my top five favorite bands ever and this is just the fourth time I've seen them), I give you the Which Creation Band Are You quiz. **Taken down by suggestion of Peabs as he says it installs spyware on your machine and my site has been acting weird since I put it up. I was Ride, because I am fucking awesome, obvs.

To those of you that passed on bluestate on Saturday, your bad. The night started out with an ominous tone when the club manager told us the club was empty the night before. And then about 20 people showed up before 11 PM. The night kinda looked bleak, but little by little people started staying after they did the walk through to check out the scene. We had a decent sized crowd by about midnight. By then people were getting buzzed and everyone started to get loose. Then after NM was done with her second set, the fuses for the house lights blew and it was like we were at some random cheesy dance club. But this was a good thing! People started streaming in and slowly everyone started inching out onto the floor to get their collective groove on. SOB did his part, keeping shit going during his set (that M.I.A. song was hott) and I did my part keeping everything and everyone moving until closing.

At first NM thought she had done something to the fuses but that ultimately proved to not be the case, although that didn't stop me from teasing her ruthlessly for the rest of the night. Eventually the staff brought out some lamps and placed them strategically around the room. For those of you counting at home, we've broken toilets and now blown fuses. Keep this in mind next time you need to throw a jammy jam. We aim to please.

Never thought I would say this but I was bummed to have to pull the plug at 2 AM, because we had a great crowd and definitely could have kept going. Everyone was mad for it. And when closing time rolled around, we had no house lights to turn on, so everyone kinda turned to me with the "Dude, what the fuck are you doing, keep it going!" face.

Many thanks to everyone that came out, especially our crack dance team that never fail to get other people's butts moving. All in all, a good time. We're back at Saint Ex next Tuesday.

Peep the setlists and more photos here. NM got some good ones.

Funny enough, the two songs that I thought would kill were my worst received songs. I guess the young 'uns don't like Culture Club or the Stone Roses. But my Born Slippy into The Devil Inside mix fucking ruled!

Not to beat a dead horse into the ground, but I was so tired last night that I went to bed at halftime. And Ted Leo was in town AND I DIDN'T GO. That should put it in perspective for you.

I fully expected to wake up this morning hearing how the Pistons just won back to back titles. Honestly neither team was impressing me in the first half. So now I guess we should get ready for the deluge of is Larry Brown quitting articles. Ho hum. Respect to the Pistons though, repeating is no easy task and neither is winning one Game 7 on the road, much less two in succession. I actually respect my hated (former) rivals more than ever this year. They almost turned two with Lindsey Hunter as their seventh man. Now just imagine if the first guard off their bench was Dwyane Wade. But don't worry, Darko's gonna be good someday! At what, I have no idea.

Stupid exterminators didn't bother to show up yesterday so poor Mr. Pink had to make a return trip to the vet's office today. He wasn't very happy with his temporary surroundings yesterday. They said he sat in the corner of his cage all day and didn't eat anything. But on the bright side, they didn't charge me for the "catnasium". Oh, and he's a healthy boy. He got a rabies shot and he weighs in at 10.6 pounds.

Here's the birthday setlist:

Gorillaz , "M1 A1"

This is how drunk I was: I was severly pissed off yesterday that I forgot to play my singlemost favoritist song of all time on Tuesday, that being "Sometimes(Lester Piggot)" by James. Then I looked at my setlist last night as I typed it up, and apparently, I played it. *shrug*

Sorry for those select few that actually came to dance. I had a backlog of my fave songs that I was dead set on playing. I know it's very hard to get your groove on to Billy Bragg, but it was my birthday after all. I'll make it up to you on July 9th. :)
