True To You has details of Morrissey's upcoming dates, which will partially make up for the dates he cancelled over the summer. Here are the East coast dates:

October 22 NEW YORK, NY : Hammerstein Ballroom
October 23 NEW YORK, NY : Hammerstein Ballroom
October 26 NEW YORK, NY : Hammerstein Ballroom
October 27 NEW YORK, NY : Hammerstein Ballroom
October 28 NEW YORK, NY : Hammerstein Ballroom
October 30 BOSTON, MA : Orpheum
October 31 BALTIMORE, MD : Rams Head
November 2 WASHINGTON, DC : Constitution Hall

Hopefully I'll be able to photograph the Baltimore or D.C. show. Maybe both.

The word came down from on high today (actually it came from Girlie Action) that Morrissey is making up the Philly and Atlantic City shows but canceling NYC, Holmdel NJ, Northampton, MA and, of course, Baltimore. This does me absolutely no good because the rescheduled Philly date is on Monday and I obviously can't go. Can't wait to fight it out with the venue about my refund.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a bigger Morrissey fan than me, but this is total BS any way you look at it. A quick check of the rescheduled dates and the Rams Head Live calendar shows the club is available on 7/22, so I guess Morrissey just doesn't want to have to travel to Baltimore to play such a small venue at this point. It's also no coincidence that MSG and Holmdel, NJ were canceled. Both shows were to be held in very large venues, but had poor ticket sales due to the high ticket prices and all the other area shows Moz was doing. So this is all just a big "Eff You" from Moz to his fans. Lovely.

This whole ordeal certainly clouds my outlook on attending any future Morrissey shows.

Fucksticks.

Still trying to confirm with the venue, but it looks like Moz canceled the show at Rams Head Live in Baltimore tonight. The show is definitely not happening.

Majorly bummed.

Last night was pretty effing great. More on that later.

**UPDATE** - Here's my hastily written DCist review.

**UPDATE 2** - Scuttlebutt says everything up through Saturday in Boston has been canceled/postponed. Just waiting on official word.

Just got word from the venue, Morrissey's show tonight at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA will go on as scheduled.

Best!

Fuck! This certainly screws up my weekend plans.

The official press release:

Boston, MA (June 27, 2007) – Morrissey regrettably had to end his show at Boston's Bank of America Pavilion last night after 30 minutes due to a throat infection that made it impossible for him to continue. The audience of almost 5000 strong experienced a fantastic opening 7 numbers that included classics "The Queen Is Dead" and "The Last Of The Famous International Playboys". In the intro to "National Front Disco" Morrissey explained to the audience that he was ill and said "unfortunately it will not just be the emotions cracking tonight but my voice as well."

Three songs later he was unable to continue and the show came to a close. Morrissey was seen by a doctor immediately and put under strict orders not to sing for 3 days. As a result the shows in Northampton, Mass tonight and Philadelphia on Friday night have also been postponed. It is hoped that new dates will be announced for each city in the next 48 hours. All tickets will be honoured for the new dates. The tour will continue in New York at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night as scheduled. More information to follow.

On the bright side, I wouldn;t have been totally crushed if I would have been at the show last night. At least I would have heard "National Front Disco" and "Disappointed."

Yet another hat tip to Brad for the above info.

The Mighty Mozzer retired after just five songs last night in Boston, due to "David Letterman throat."

According to reports, the Boston show will be rescheduled at a later date and all tickets from last night will be honored at the new show. Tonight's show in Northampton, MA has also been canceled. Check Live Nation's website for rescheduling news.

Hopefully Moz bounces back real quick-like, since I just added Homdel, NJ to my Morrissey road trip, which is scheduled to start Friday in Philly. *shudder*

There's more to life than Morrissey, you know, but not much more.

[Many thanks to proud new poppa Brad from Bradley's Almanac for the heads up. As if he didn't have enough things going on...]

The Mighty Mozzer turns 48 today.

Also tonight is the NBA Draft Lottery (looking at this just makes me shudder) and the *sniff* series finale of Veronica Best. I'll be DVRing the latter, however, as I'll be at the Rock n' Roll Hotel taking in locals Le Loup (just signed to Sub Pop imprint Hardly Art) and The Rosebuds.

Also, let me be the latest person to congratulate D.C.'s own Georgie James for signing with Saddle Creek Records. That's huge! New record later this year. Can't wait!

I get all jump-up-and-down happy whenever I think about the very real chance of doing this in two months. I just hope that he 1) keeps "Disappointed" and "National Front Disco" in the set and that he 2) doesn't play either of them in the first three songs of the set because I would rather not be working when I spontaneously combust with joy.

Yes, I am filled with anticipation, and it is most delicious.

PS - the new slideshow interface on Flickr is pretty cool, but it's running real slow for me so far.

PPS - I just realized he played "You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side" last night. Holy Fucking Shit.

Argh!

Spaced on the Baltimore pre-sale. Anyone have any luck?

Looks like I have to try again on Saturday.

PS - Tickets are $65! Jeezy Creezy.

Consider me jump-up-and-down happy.
